Felixstowe Finds -Fantastic Felixstowe

------------------------------UPDATE!--------------------------

I am so excited to update you on my Felixstowe Finds experience. We finally hid our stone! I also spent a few delightful hours decorating some more.

Michael again wasn't interested in decorating them but he was again happy to hunt and hide them. I'm really proud of my efforts. Turns out once you get into the zone its amazing what you can do.

I love cake so my designs quickly turned into cake related pictures and this made me think about the return of

The Great British Bake Off. Inspiration can come from anywhere!

I used permanent markers from Poundland. They were really good! I was really surprised at how good they were. Great coverage. Didn't smudge much at all. Best thing I ever bought from there I think. I managed to get in and out without Mikey making me buy him some crap toy that would last 2 minutes. Success all around!

Happy Hunting!

--------------------Previously-----------------------

Summer holidays are speeding by so fast we will all soon be thinking about the return to school. Everyone is running out of ideas for activities and trying to make those pennies stretch. I get a dreaded invite request to a group and see its a new craze. I think is this the next fidget spinner rubbish or just another selling page?

No, it's Felixstowe Finds. Some craze that's drifted onto our Suffolk shores. I scroll through and start to see the amazing creations. Rocks people have decorated and then hidden along the coast for others to find. Once you've found them you then hide them again and the process starts all over again.

Our finds including a dragons eye!

I've instantly bought into the idea and planning when my family can get down there. I love a treasure hunt so this was right up my street. Like many other parents, I'm busy thinking what I have around the house to let my little one create his master piece.

"My kitchen is covered in glitter all for no reason"

I have one rock so we have one chance to get it right. I want it to look as good as the others! 2 seconds in and Michael said he can't do it and has instead gone off to get dressed ready for the hunting. That's fine. He's normally up for a craft session but today he was more up for the idea of hunting. He's put on his tropical shirt so he's feeling summery and you know he means business!

Michael practising his best catalogue poses before we continue the hunt.

This left me to decorate our rock. This means I can't blame him if it looks shit. Pressure. I have a word with myself and remember that it's the taking part that counts and it's all just for fun.

We set out excitedly to get involved. Making our way down the A14 and I realise I've forgotten the F*****g rock. My kitchen is covered in glitter all for no reason. I'm not turning back so we decide to hunt today and hide ours another day. My mind was too occupied with making sure the boys had snacks, sun cream, coats and spare clothes (potty training hell and 9-week old baby shit storms likely). The struggle is very real!

"It's fun to find them whatever your design"

Anyway hats off to the person that thought to introduce this idea to families in Suffolk. It can be a free activity if you want it to be. It gets you all out of the house and creative at the same time.

It's lovely to see peoples creations even if your kids ditched you and you made them yourself, like me. There really is no need to get caught up on your ability to make your stone as good as everyone else's. It's fun to find them whatever your design.

Almost done with our hunting and Michael says "we haven't got our stone!". Me, "no, no we haven't got ours it's at home!", "Sorry I was busy thinking for 4 people!". We can laugh about it now!

Our stone! Not a tribute to Michael Jackson....

Michael and Jacobs initials!

If you haven't been out yet...get involved. Felixstowe Finds is fun and it's helping Felixstowe to be fantastic for a day out no matter how much money you have. Next time boys don't let me forget the bloody rock. Too much to remember for a Mum in a Mann's world.
