Another Year Older - Growing Old Disgracefully

So it was my birthday this week. I'm not one to make a fuss about my birthday and my celebrations are very understated. Just a small low key party with minimal effort. Who am I kidding!??! I like to go all out! I spend months, if not years planning these events and design them with immense detail. I am a complete control freak which you should know by now. Pinterest is my best friend and I love to take inspiration from there to create my perfect day. I'm already planning mine and Jacobs joint 50th and 18th birthday party.

So as it's been a hectic year so far in my household it was a pretty low key celebration this time. I am however taking a moment to reflect on the celebrations I've had over the years. Many of which involve just a few drinks (just a few I promise).

A festival themed house party. I was living with my parents at the time. I wanted to hire a porter loo and my dad wasn't having any of it so I settled on painting a porter loo door for the toilet door. Covered the floor in cardboard....took ages but it was the best idea ever (take note kids).

A Great Gatsby murder mystery party. It was such good fun. Planned for months!

My 30th birthday weekend in London. Shopping, The Ritz, The Emirates stadium tour and doing the monopoly pub crawl. It isn't for the faint hearted! I recommend months of training prior. Even us seasoned drinkers couldn't complete it. Such a graceful celebration!

Beyonce at Wembley Stadium! (separated at birth we were).

Camping in Henley on Thames whilst heavily pregnant and breaking a sun lounger with my big bum. Phil won't ever let me forget that (like he's perfect).

Understated this birthday may have been but it came with a gift of a big stinking crap from Jacob and the devil in Michael was released. After fighting back the tears I decided I would make myself a birthday cake. I then quickly realised this wasn't going to happen. I decided to ask my husband to pick me one up from the shop. He then claimed he was going to get me one anyway! I instantly felt terrible as he said: "give me a chance women!". There's that control freak.

My birthday ended with a takeaway for two. Candles, confetti, and Whitney Houston.....Not actually her but Smooth Radio. I set all this up because it was the pick me up I needed after a long day. If you want something....make it happen!

My Birthday presents sum me up amazingly....A Kenwood food mixer (mine recently packed up) I'm always wanting to cook/bake something. Also tickets for Chase and Status at Newmarket Nights, Another opportunity to have a night off and party with my husband and friends. I AM! a good mum really! I just don't know how to grow older gracefully. Another year older for this Mum in a Mann's world.
